Sponsored by the University of Tennessee/Wilson County Extension Service, the Wilson County Master Gardener program offers a 14-week training session in horticulture and related topics, specializing in gardening and landscaping practices.
Participants register for 40 hours of intense classroom instruction covering horticultural subjects such as soils, annual flowers, bulb production, fruit, vegetables, basic landscaping techniques and pest control.
The Master Gardener program utilizes new gardening research and practices through volunteers who assist county agents with gardening problems, questions and concerns. Volunteers also organize and coordinate community projects in the areas of landscaping and gardening, which includes work with new Habitat for Humanity homeowners.
Classes are held in Lebanon and Mt. Juliet and are open to all eligible people.
For more information regarding the Master Gardeners program, including fees, class locations and schedules, call the Wilson County Agricultural Extension office at 444-9584 or visit the office at 925 East Baddour Parkway in Lebanon.
